In today's fast-paced world, we have become almost unconscious about the kind of food we put in our mouth every day.
Yet, such unconscious actions can have a huge impact on how we feel and look, how long we're going to live, and the quality of our lives as we age.
I sought help from traditional medical doctors, but with little long-term relief. Usually, the drugs I was prescribed only made things worse. The doctors were focused on treating my symptoms. Nobody looked for the source of my problems.
By the time I reached my mid-30s, I was sick and tired of being sick
and tired all the time, and I started looking for my own answers. I began
to suspect that my diet might be playing a part in my poor health, but
there were so many differing opinions as to what to eat that I was overwhelmed.
I was fortunate enough to find an MD who was doing pioneering work in the area of nutrition. He recognized that there was a good chance that my health problems stemmed, in his words, "from massive nutritional deficiencies". And he was right. His holistic approach literally turned my life around.
After fifteen years of getting almost no exercise, I actually began to feel good enough to think about getting out on a tennis court again. It felt so great to feel good again that it was hard to pull me off the courts. I started playing competitively, eventually going on to get a state ranking in my age division in my early forties! What a transformation!
One day I attended a seminar given by Joe Dillon, a nutrition expert and personal trainer to over 20 Olympic Gold Medal winners. Joe had developed a program for busy executives who wanted a healthier lifestyle, but didn't have the time or inclination to train like an athlete.
When I adopted his nutrition-oriented approach, my mental and physical energy went through the roof and my body-fat percentage plummeted. I felt so great I got in touch with him, and later became the first person he certified to teach his program.
